Earthquake rattles southern Iran


(CNN) -- A 5.4-magnitude earthquake has been recorded near the city of Fin in southern Iran, according to the semi-official Mehr News Agency.


No damage or injuries were immediately reported.


The Monday evening quake was centered about 89 kilometers (55 miles) northwest of the Persian Gulf port city of Bandar Abbas, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.


It struck about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) deep, according to the U.S. agency. Mehr placed the quake's depth at 7.4 kilometers (12 miles).
