While initally only for iPad, Vainglory, with its massively multiplayer gameplay designed specifically for touchscreens, will be a natural on the sizable iPhone 6 Plus when it rolls out. In fact, Apple used the forthcoming game to demo the iPhone 6's graphical capabilities at the rollout earlier this month. The iPhone 6's 8-megapixel camera doesn't have the big numbers of some of its competitors, but it's getting high marks from early reviewers for new features like faster auto-focus and the ability to take high-resolution panorama shots. Snapseed is a great photo editing tool. It has all the fun Instagram-style features like funky filters and frames, but combines them with an extensive, easy-to-use set of tools for brightness, sharpness, cropping and other editing. The iPhone 6's 8-megapixel camera doesn't have the big numbers of some of its competitors, but it's getting high marks from early reviewers for new features like faster auto-focus and the ability to take high-resolution panorama shots. OK, odds are you've already got the Kindle app for your phone and tablet book-reading. But Amazon has jumped on the iOS 8 bandwagon quickly with a list of new features. The Kindle Today widget lets you keep up to three books front-and-center for easy reading. They also added the ability to copy and paste text from books you're reading and a quick translation app.OK, odds are you've already got the Kindle app for your phone and tablet book-reading. For the first time, Apple is allowing apps that retool the keyboard on the iPhone, and there are several good ones to choose from. Among other customization tools, Swype is best known for letting users drag their finger from letter to letter to type instead of hunting and pecking, and it's been a big hit among Android users. Apps like Fleksy and Swiftkey also are worth a look -- all three are either free or offer free trial periods. For the first time, Apple is allowing apps that retool the keyboard on the iPhone, and there are several good ones to choose from. While you're waiting for Vainglory, you can get your gaming fix with the latest version of what's widely considered among the best mobile driving games around. Developers have already optimized "Asphalt 8" for iOS 8 (appropriately enough), taking advantage of the new phones' added graphics and processing power. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with all our passwords, not to mention to ignore news about big data breaches by hackers. 1Password tries to help by creating really tricky passwords for your various accounts, then letting you access them with one, presumably simpler one, via the app. It's already been updated for the new iOS 8 operating system, including integration with Apple's Touch ID fingerprint security. • iPhone 6 and 6 Plus go on sale Friday

  • Both offer iPhone users bigger screens and new features

  • Games taking advantage of screen size will include Vainglory, Asphalt 8

(CNN) -- As millions of people get their hands on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Friday, many will no doubt be looking for new apps that take advantage of the new phones' capabilities.

Chief among them is a bigger screen. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch display, while the 6 Plus checks in at a whopping 5.5 inches.

But they'll also have better graphics and faster processors, as well as features that give app developers freedoms they've never had before.

For the first time, Apple is letting developers create widgets, mini-programs that are often designed to be quick and easy to use. They can tinker with the iPhone's keyboard for the first time as well, giving iOS users access to some apps that Android users have enjoyed for the past couple of years.

Apple's iPhone 6 goes on sale, and the lines are insane

A slate of those keyboard tools are ready to go now. But the front-runners in categories from productivity tools to photography tools to games are also raring to go.

Here's a look at some must-have apps for the new phones.

  • Joan Rivers appears to post on Facebook about the iPhone 6

  • Comedian died on September 4 at age 81

  • iPhone 6 and 6 Plus weren't announced until September 9

(CNN) -- Something tells us Joan Rivers would laugh about this.

On Friday, the famed comedian, who died September 4 at age 81, appeared to post to her Facebook account, praising the new iPhone 6 and announcing her plans to buy one.

"This badass is being replaced by an iPhone 6 (not the fat one)," someone wrote, in Rivers' trademark irreverent style, in a post that accompanied a photo of an iPhone 4S Friday morning. It was quickly deleted.

Rivers died five days before the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus ("the fat one") were introduced.

Accreditation issues for Rivers' clinic?

It's not unusual for publicists or other representatives of celebrities to post for them on social media. The may have been written earlier and scheduled for release Friday, the day the new iPhones hit stores.

Whoever wrote the post had a little more trouble than just posting as a dead woman about a product she was highly unlikely to have ever seen. In it, "Rivers" writes: "I got this one in 2010, and after 4 years, my only complaint is that apps are now designed for bigger screens, and the battery is getting tired."

The iPhone 4S was released in 2011.

As is usually the case in the Internet age, deleting the post did nothing to keep it from being screen-captured and shared widely on social media, where people had some fun with Rivers, who in later years joked frequently about her own death.

"iPhone is so big, Joan Rivers came back from the dead to endorse it," one Twitter user wrote.

"Joan Rivers talking about the iPhone 6... Maybe The Cloud is more than we think," wrote another.

  • E! is keeping well-known franchise "Fashion Police" in production

  • The possibility of its end came about with the death of Joan Rivers

  • Rivers' daughter Melissa said her mother "would have wanted" the show to continue

  • "Fashion Police" will resume in January 2015

(CNN) -- E! will keep producing "Fashion Police" without Joan Rivers, the talk show's ringleader who died earlier this month.

The legendary comedian passed away at age 81 a week after suffering cardiac arrest during an appointment at Manhattan's Yorkville Endoscopy clinic.

The cable channel said Friday that it had decided, with the blessing of Rivers' daughter Melissa, "that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue."

"Fashion Police" will resume in January 2015 with coverage of the Golden Globes awards ceremony and red carpet.

E! did not say who would host the show.

Joan Rivers was the original star of "Fashion Police," which premiered in 2010 and became a fixture of the cable channel. Her daughter was an executive producer of it. On the show, Rivers led group dissections of celebrity wardrobe triumphs and tragedies.

Joan Rivers was a pointed, pioneering comedian

While a number of other E! personalities were program regulars, Rivers was "Fashion Police's" snarky heart; that's why, when she died, some observers predicted that E! would not re-cast the show. E!, however, would have lost one of its best-known franchises.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Joan Rivers and, for the last two weeks, have turned our attention to honoring her memory on all of our platforms," E! said in a statement Friday.

"We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of 'Fashion Police,'" which led to the decision to continue the show, the channel said.
