UK terror probe: 3 more arrested

Scotland Yard announced the arrests of three more suspects in an ongoing terror investigation in the United Kingdom.

Scotland Yard announced the arrests of three more suspects in an ongoing terror investigation in the United Kingdom.

(CNN) -- Three more suspects were arrested Monday in central London in an ongoing terror investigation in the United Kingdom, Scotland Yard announced.

The men, who are between the ages of 21 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of being "concerned, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism."

Two of five men arrested last week were released from custody Monday, the Scotland Yard statement said, leaving six men in custody.

Authorities have searched a business in west London and will search four residences in northwest London, police said.

After last week's arrests, a UK security source told CNN that authorities may have foiled a terror plot aimed at Britain in its early stages. Islamist terrorism was "the clear reason" for the plot, according to the source.

  • Rotterdam's new food hall resembles vast intergalactic installation

  • Markthal features a huge arch containing more than 200 apartments

  • It's built to comply with new Dutch laws that require food markets to be under cover

(CNN) -- It looks like a portal to another dimension crafted from alien technology to bridge yawning chasms across time and space.

In reality, it's a fruit and vegetable market.

Either way, it's unlikely that anyone could fail to be excited by the prospect of loading up on groceries at Markthal, a combined food hall and housing project that opened earlier this month in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam.

The development, already feted by architecture critics, houses 100 market stalls beneath a gigantic, brightly decorated archway that contains 228 apartments.

Informally known as the "Horseshoe," the impressive structure adds to the limited roster of attractions in Rotterdam.

To date the city's chief tourism claims are that it's the busiest container port in Europe and is home to the Netherlands' most popular zoo.

'Valhalla of food'

Designed by Dutch architectural firm MVRDV, Markthal is a key project in a major regeneration of the city center around Rotterdam's Binnenrotte Square.

The building is described in promotional materials as a "Valhalla of food."

"The combination of an apartment building covering a fresh food market with food shops, restaurants, a supermarket and an underground parking is found nowhere else in the world," it says.

It's certainly a first for the Netherlands.

The archway, closed at either end by vast walls of glass, is the country's only indoor food market and has been built in response to new regulations that require produce retailers to be under cover.

So it's functional and street legal as well as eye-popping.

Yay or nay: In-flight family tables?

  • UK airline Thomson considers introducing round-table seating for families

  • Concept could be introduced on new fleet of Boeing 737 Max aircraft over next five years

  • Childcare services may also be available to help entertain kids during flights

(CNN) -- Is this the dream for families traveling by air or their worst nightmare?

Thomson Airways, the third biggest airline in the UK, is considering new seating configurations that'll seat parents and kids face-to-face around a table.

Promo photos for the rear-of-the-plane concept look good, showing a relaxed mom and dad presiding over a well-behaved brood.

Families like this may actually exist, in which case Thomson is on to a winner.

Parents looking forward to corralling irksome offspring into middle seats while they binge-watch blockbuster movies may think differently.

Child-free zone and snack bar

The flying family circle setup is one of several ideas Thomson is considering for the new fleet of 47 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft it has on order.

Also on the drawing board are "couple pods," featuring a table (for champagne, according to the airline) sandwiched between two seats with mood lighting.

As a possible sop to parents deprived of their movie marathon, Thomson is also looking at on-board childcare services.

Flight attendants will be trained to engage kids with entertainments like crafts and quizzes that related to the destination.

There are plans to keep adults happy, with a "beach snack bar" in premium cabins and a zoning system deployed to create a child-free zone.

Unusual innovations

Thomson may also introduce resort concierges on board, offering recommendations about the destination. Inflight entertainment systems will allow last-minute bookings and room upgrades.

A Thomson spokeswoman told CNN that all the ideas were genuine plans that could be introduced as the new fleet is rolled out over the next five years.

She said some were already being trialed.

The airline's concepts follow a slew of other speculative in-flight innovations created by industry players attempting to raise profit margins or outdo competitors.

Air New Zealand recently touted its Skycouch -- a three-seat row that can be converted into a futon in economy class.

Manufacturer Airbus this year filed a patent for saddle seats -- an idea once floated by low-cost carrier Ryanair but largely dismissed as a marketing stunt.

  • Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up again for a new project

  • They will develop "Incorporated," a futuristic thriller for Syfy

  • The pair are best known for their Oscar-winning collaboration on "Good Will Hunting"

(CNN) -- It's a busy time for best buds and business partners Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

Syfy announced Monday its partnership with Pearl Street Films, a production company owned by Affleck and Damon, and CBS Television Studios to develop "Incorporated."

Dubbed by the network a futuristic espionage thriller, "Incorporated" will follow the journey of a man attempting to beat a corrupt world in which corporations have "unlimited power."

The "Good Will Hunting" duet will executive produce the show along with Pearl Street Films president Jennifer Todd, and other key players of their television production company. Also joining the team of industry bigwigs as executive producer is Ted Humphrey, popular for his work on the leading CBS series "The Good Wife".

If Affleck's most recent work is any indication of future successes, then Syfy will surely be getting a run for its money: Just a week and a half after being released into theaters, Affleck's newest film "Gone Girl" still ranks No. 1 at the box office, grossing an estimated $78.3 million total.

Search for Hannah Graham goes on

  • City of Charlottesville, Virginia, takes charge of search for Graham

  • Jesse Matthew has been charged in her disappearance

  • A source says there is a DNA link to the case of another woman killed in 2009

(CNN) -- It has been one month since University of Virginia student Hannah Graham was last seen, and her parents are asking for help.

"It is heartbreaking for us that the person or persons who know where Hannah is have not come forward with that information. It is within their power both to end this nightmare for all," Graham's parents, John and Sue Graham, said Monday.

Her friends have not given up hope either. In a statement released to CNN they ask "that everyone in Charlottesville and surrounding areas be on the lookout for new clues. No clue is too small and every search of personal property, even if it does not yield a result, is helpful."

For the better part of the last month, Mark Eggeman from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management has helped orchestrate the largest missing person search in Virginia's history.

Police seize cab driven by Jesse Matthew

"The search for Hannah is currently in a transition stage," Eggeman said Friday.

Jesse Matthew's cab seized

The city of Charlottesville is in charge as of Monday, taking over from the Department of Emergency Management, with a different focus and change in strategy.

Eggeman said experts are still investigating tips and leads and are analyzing some imaging taken from a specialized camera mounted on board a private plane. The plane was donated to the search effort from Woolpert Inc.

The design and geospatial company based out of Ohio donated its plane with an ultra-high precision sensor to scan "areas of interest" that were requested by law enforcement. The scanning is "positionally accurate," Senior Vice President Shane Imwalle said, which can be a great help to law enforcement.

While the search for Graham is paramount for the Charlottesville Police Department, solving the abduction and killing of Morgan Harrington, a Virginia Tech student who went missing in October 2009, is a priority for the Virginia State Police.

A law enforcement source tells CNN that foreign DNA in the Harrington case provides a forensic link to Jesse Matthew, who has been charged with abduction with the intent to defile in Graham's disappearance.

Local Yellow Cab owner Mark Brown said his cabbies who knew Matthew say he was driving a cab the night Harrington went missing. Matthew held a taxi cab license in the city of Charlottesville from 2005 to 2010. A source close to the case confirmed that police recently impounded the cab Matthew was allegedly driving the night Harrington disappeared.

The Virginia State Police said they "will release new information at a time and in a manner that does not jeopardize the integrity of this ongoing, complex criminal investigation."

Is Cassandra Morton's death linked to latest case?

As the investigation into both cases continues, so does the search for Graham.

In the early morning hours of September 13, several surveillance cameras in the Charlottesville downtown mall area showed Graham leaving the Tempo Bar at around 2 a.m.

The cameras also showed a man, later identified as Matthew, following her. Matthew is believed to be the last person who saw Graham alive. A warrant for his arrest was issued and authorities later found Matthew 1,300 miles away camping on a beach in Galveston, Texas.

The 32-year-old Matthew was returned to Virginia and charged. His next court hearing is scheduled for December 4.

Matthew's attorney did not respond to CNN's request for comment.

Graham's friends continue to say how appreciative they are to everyone who has volunteered.

"We also want others to take the time to stop and hug someone they love. Words cannot express our gratitude to the Charlottesville Police Department and the overwhelming support and love from our community...please continue to keep Hannah, her parents, and her brother in your thoughts and prayers," their statement said.

Authorities are offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the safe return of Graham, 18, who was a second-year student at the university.

"Again, we would like to urge anyone who has not already searched their property in the city of Charlottesville, or any of the neighboring counties, to please do so today. Please, please, please help us to bring Hannah home," John and Sue Graham said in Monday's statement.

  • Veteran says woman in Eagles gear ran off with his prosthetic leg

  • Sonny Forriest Jr.'s limb was on his chair while he entertained fans outside the stadium

  • Police found the prosthetic leg on a subway train about midnight

(CNN) -- Who would steal a Vietnam veteran's prosthetic leg?

Police in Philadelphia are looking for a woman who allegedly ran off with Sonny Forriest Jr.'s fake limb outside Lincoln Financial Field during the Eagles game on Sunday night. Forriest often entertains Eagles fans with his singing outside the stadium, according to CNN affiliate WPVI.

Forriest told police that he took off his leg because it was hurting him. It was on the back of his motorized wheelchair when an intoxicated woman in Eagles gear jumped in his lap and broke his microphone, he told CNN affiliate KYW. The woman, who appeared to be in her 20s, then grabbed the leg and ran off.

"She said, 'I will pay you for (the microphone).' I said, 'That's all right, baby, go ahead and have a good time,' and then she disappeared," Forriest said.

This isn't the first time Philadelphia sports fans have ended up in the news for odd behavior. In fact, city officials installed a courtroom in the old Eagles' stadium in the late 1990s just to sentence unruly fans.

In April 2010, a Phillies fan intentionally vomited on a dad and his daughter. In 2000, a Philadelphia Flyers fan ended up in the hockey team's penalty box with enforcer Tie Domi. And who could forget what could be the largest one-sided snowball fight in history, when Eagles fans pelted the Dallas Cowboys team in 1989?

WPVI reports that police found Forriest's prosthetic leg on a subway train about midnight Monday. No arrests have been made in the case.

At least Forriest's team won: The Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants, 27-0.
