THE Junta de Andalucia regional government has announced that it plans to promote underground tourism in order to make the best of six caves in the region.
The caves receive an average 1 million visitors per year, the Councillor for Tourism and Commerce, Rafael Rodriguez, announced, which is 25 per cent of the total number of people who visit such natural monuments in the whole of Spain.
They include the ‘Gruta de las Maravillas’ in Aracena, Huelva, with newly opened areas, the Cueva del Tesoro and Cueva de Nerja in Malaga, the PiƱar and Iznalloz caves in Granada and the Zuheros cave in Cordoba.
