Andalucia tourists have deepest pockets

Andalucia attracts tourists with a bigger budget than those who go to other Spanish destinations.

According to data released by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism the average tourist arriving for a two week stay in Andalucia will have €1,164 in their pockets.

This is 4.4% more than those tourists who go to other areas; only the Canary islands come close.

Tourists visiting Andalucia in March spent a total of €1.36 billion which was 8.5% up on last year, this accounts for 13.5% of all income derived from tourism in Spain.

The Balearic Islands used to be the top earner from tourism but they have now dropped to sixth place on the list.

So far this year tourists spending their holidays in Andalucia have spent an average of €105 per day; this augurs well for the summer season which is the real barometer of how tourism is going in the region.
