Twenty four unemployed people have been trained at a cost to the taxpayer of €536,000.
The Junta de Andalucia regional government and the Association of Municipalities of the Almanzora Valley (AMAV) ran the course, which has now officially finished.
Jose Manuel Ortiz Bono, delegate from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment, said that over the last year, the workshops had trained 12 men and 12 women.
Certificates of completion of the course were handed out to the participants, who are hoping to find work with their new qualifications.
They had received training in forest plantation, forestry and nursery planting as well as tourist activities and how to promote cultural and ethnic heritage.
The workshops were financed by the AMAV and the Junta and had a budget of just over €536,000.
Ortiz Bono pointed out that the main objective of the Junta was to end unemployment which, these days, is the population’s biggest worry.
He went on to state that workshops like these were excellent tools with which to help the young and unemployed get into the job market.
As well as entering the job market the graduates of this course are being encouraged to set up their own businesses with the tools they have learnt in the workshops.
