Michael Schumacher is being sued by a Spanish biker who claims that the F1 star knocked him over weeks before the skiing accident that left the seven-time world champion in a coma and fighting for his life.
The motorcyclist is arguing that Schumacher hit him off his bike after failing to give way at a roundabout in Bormujos, near Seville.
The biker, who wishes to remain anonymous, is claiming compensation for a broken wrist he suffered as well as damage to a watch, his clothes and his motorbike in the accident on November 17 2013.
Reportedly, Michael Schumacher has been directly named in the complaint, along with the car hire firm that rented him the Audi A4 he was driving at the time.
The F1 ace has been in a medically-induced coma since suffering a head injury during a skiing accident in the French Alps resort of Meribel on December 29 last year.
If insurers contest the claim a trial will take place, and Schumacher, 45, will not be obliged to attend.
A police accident report claims that Schumacher, who was on a holiday in Spain at the time, failed to respect his alleged victim’s right of way on the road.
Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm has recently said that Michael is making progress.
At the beginning of the month she said: “He shows moments of consciousness and awakening.
“We are on his side, together with the team of the hospital in Grenoble, and we keep remaining confident.”
