Malaga prepares for Pompidou Centre

Malaga City Council and Port Authorities have signed the lease for the ‘Cube’ building at the port which will be home to the Pompidou Centre.

The contract is valid for 35 years, which can be extended, and will cost city hall €318,875, although this amount can be discounted from quantities owed to the council by the port, for example for property tax.

The agreement was signed by the Mayor, Francisco de la Torre, and the President of the Port Authorities, Paulino Plata.

The city council has committed to preparing and opening the area to the public within four years, and the aim is for the Pompidou Centre, the first outside of France, to be completed in 2015.

The building cannot be used for any other purpose which is not cultural or didactic, nor can any changes be carried out without the authorization of the port authorities.
