Middle Eastern travellers bring positive outlook

Hotels in the Malaga province saw the best April for the number of visitors since 1999, with 463,978 in total, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

In the first four months of the year, Malaga province’s hotels have seen 1.17 million visitors, which is 6.1% more than the same period last year.

Figures show that there have been 4.9% more Spanish tourists and 6.9% more foreign tourists.

Marbella in particular is looking forward to the arrival of Arab tourists, who are expected to be more numerous than ever, especially in August, due to political instability in other destinations which they favour, and the fact that the holy month of Ramadan this year falls before August, their favourite month to travel.

Kuwaitis and Saudi Arabian have always been fond of Marbella, but now, the area is also seeing more visitors from Qatar, the UAE and Morocco.

Malaga province is the third favourite destination for Middle Eastern travellers behind Madrid and Barcelona.
