England squad arrive home after World Cup nightmare

England’s miserable World Cup campaign in Brazil came to a sad end, as the team touched down at Manchester Airport.

No waving flags or screaming fans in sight, the underperforming stars were greeted with total apathy from a group of media photographers.

The atmosphere was unlike any of the receptions the England team had received in the past.

Not all bad news though, the footballers may have returned empty handed, but they were each given an XBox 360 as part of a sponsorship deal with the Xbox manufacturer, Microsoft.

The Three Lion’s early World Cup exit is estimated to leave a hole of £1.3billion in the country’s economy, as a study claimed an England goal could generate billions in spending at UK bars, hotels, pubs and restaurants, and on purchases of sportswear and memorabilia made for the world’s most important sporting event.

It was England’s worst World Cup since 1958.
