NATIONAL POLICE have detained a man in connection with the murder of a Danish female tourist in Madrid.
The Belgian man, 33, is suspected of killing the 27-year-old Danish tourist at an apart- hotel in the centre of Madrid. He allegedly strangled her with a cord and then set the room on fire.
The accused is an employee of a company that reserves accommodation for tourists, which the murdered woman used to find her hotel.
As soon as the police confronted him with the facts, he broke down and confessed to the crime, even giving police details which only the killer could have known.
The man has been sent to prison on remand until his case can be heard by the courts in Madrid.
