iPhone ‘partner in crime’

A Florida police officer has claimed a man currently standing trial for murdering his roommate, asked Siri for advice on where to hide the body.

Pedro Bravo, aged 20, has been accused of murdering his roommate back in 2012 after they fell out over an ex-girlfriend.

According to the police, he kidnapped and strangled his friend before turning to his iPhone for advice.

Siri, Apple iPhone’s digital assistant, is more commonly asked to provide information on nearby shops or restaurants, but it seems that in this case a rather more sinister question may have been posed to the computerised helper.

The prosecution maintains that after killing his victim, Bravo asked his phone where he should hide the body. An answer came back suggesting swamps, reservoirs, metal foundries or rubbish dumps as suitable places for a body to be hidden.

Locations taken from the defendant’s phone at the time do not match his account of where he says he was.

The trial continues.
