Police search Cliff Richard’s home

Police have conducted a search of a property owned by Sir Cliff Richard, in connection to sexual abuse allegations, Euro Weekly News has heard.

Cliff Richard’s Berkshire home in Sunningdale, currently being searched under police warrant, has been tied to an alleged historical sex offence on a boy under the age of 16 which took place in the 1980s.

The police have stated that the search is not connected with Operation Yewtree, although officers managing that investigation have been notified.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire police, who are leading the investigation, said: "South Yorkshire police has gained entry to a property in the Sunningdale area of Berkshire.

"Officers are currently searching the property.

"A search warrant was granted after police received an allegation of a sexual nature dating back to the 1980s involving a boy who was under the age of 16 at the time.

"No one has been arrested and the owner of the property was not present."

Born Harry Webb, Sir Cliff Richard, aged 73, is one of the UK’s most successful male artists in history, having sold more than 21.5 million singles. He was knighted in 1995.

It is unclear as of yet what connects Richard to the search.

More details to follow.
