The Butterfly Children Charity is preparing its second main event of the summer in Marbella to raise funds to support Butterfly Children and their families in Spain.
The event is being held over two days. On Thursday, August 7 there is a charity golf event at the prestigious Marbella Club Golf in Benahavis. Green fees cost 120€ and include buggy and a picnic. On Saturday, August 9 a charity dinner is being held at the restaurant of the Aloha Golf, with live entertainment and a giant charity raffle with over 300 prizes, all donated by local businesses and Spanish companies. Dinner is 60€ per person, including wine.
Summer events such as this one, together with the charity shops, are the principle fundraisers of this organisation which is dedicated to improving the quality of life of those suffering the Butterfly Skin condition. Various families with Butterfly Children, collaborators and staff of the charity had a chance to meet the Spanish Queen Doña Letizia last Monday in Madrid. During the audience with the Queen they explained what the mission of the charity was and shared with her their concerns about the situation of the group they represent. Sadly, the Spanish NHC is not offering adequate medical assistance to people with Butterfly Skin due to the lack of an officially designated hospital of reference for this condition. At the same time, access to treatments is difficult and deficient, and there is not enough public aid for the families who have to care for a relative with such a traumatic and chronic condition.
Funds raised through this charity event at the beginning of August will be dedicated to the services and programmes that DEBRA Spain has put in place to compensate the deficiencies of the Spanish public system at the moment. Reservations 952 816 434.
We would be grateful if you could attend the tournament’s prize presentation on Saturday August 9 at 9pm at the Aloha Golf Club. The charity dinner will take place just after the prize presentation.
