Toddler drowns in pool

A TWO-YEAR-OLD British child has drowned in a private swimming pool in Mijas on the Costa del Sol. The child was walking along a wall when he fell into the pool at a private residence in the El Coto urbanisation.

The child’s parents alerted the Local Police to declare him missing as they had not seen him for some time.

Within minutes of raising the alarm, the child was discovered motionless in the pool by his father.

It appears that the boy somehow managed to gain access to the wall of a neighbouring property, from where he subsequently fell into the swimming pool.

Despite efforts by both his parents and the emergency services to resuscitate him, the boy tragically passed away at the scene.

According to residents living in the area, the emergency services arrived within 10 minutes of being called, and attended the victim for 40 minutes in their attempts to revive him.

The boy’s father was also treated for injuries received when jumping from his house to the neighbour’s property to come to his son’s aid.

The owner of the property is not reported to have been present at the time of the incident.
