Police arrest two poachers

TWO poachers were placed under arrest for slaughtering two wild boars.

As part of an operation mounted to crack down on poaching, Guardia Civil officers and Environmental Police of the Junta de Andalucia (regional government) in Marbella detained two men whom they caught red-handed while they were slaughtering two wild boars.

The operation that led to their arrest was launched after police were alerted to the potential presence of poachers in Xarblanca in Marbella. The police discovered an illegal trap for wild boars set by the poachers which appeared to have been recently used.

During the operation, the police caught the poachers red-handed while they were slaughtering two of the wild boars reportedly caught with the trap they had set. The officers found the carcasses of another two wild boars, which were later taken to a Marbella charity.

The officers seized a large trap, a spear, a machete, an axe and a bag reportedly used to carry the captured animals and initiated an investigation for alleged violation of the Wild Flora and Fauna Law.
