ALMOST 300 students spent Monday night (September 8) camped outside Malaga University’s Faculty of Economics to reserve a place on their desired courses.
Stocked-up with camping provisions, food, and even decks of cards to pass away the time, the students began arriving at midnight, joining a queue outside the department which eventually totaled 270 people.
Despite complaints, this is the third year in a row that students have been forced to sleep rough in order to sign-up for classes and lectures.
Although the university’s website allows students to enroll online, they have to choose their group and lesson time in person, necessitating a trip to the department.
The Dean of the university, Eugenio Luque, has said that steps will be taken to ensure that the same problem is avoided next year.
However, it may be too little too late for some of the bleary-eyed students who filed inside when doors opened at 8am the following day!
