Two US men who hacked Subway tills in order to obtain sandwich gift cards worth $40,000 (£23,000) are facing jail time.
Shahin Abdollahi has admitted to his involvement in a conspiracy to hack into the computerised cash registers of a number of Subway sandwich franchises.
Abdollahi was accused of selling tills to at least 13 Subway stores with remote login software called LogMeIn installed.
Abdollahi, also known as Sean Holdt, 46, of California, along with another defendant, Jeffrey Wilkinson, 37, are said to have accessed the systems using the software when the fast-food stores were closed.
The pair would load cash values onto Subway gift cards, before selling them online on eBay and Craigslist or using them themselves.
Abdollahi pleaded guilty yesterday (Wednesday) to one count of conspiracy to commit computer intrusion and wire fraud.
The scam is said to have begun in 2011, and was investigated by the US Secret Service.
