Letizia was the beauty of the ball…

QUEEN Letizia of Spain, 41, surprised everyone attending the Prince of Girona Awards ceremony in Catalonia with a beautiful new hairdo.

While it is yet unclear whether the Queen actually decided to cut off her exquisite locks or whether she simply twisted her beautiful hair under, the truth is her sense of style gives some of Europe’s most elegant women a run for their money.

The Queen wore a fashionable and refined sleeveless black dress which accentuated her enviable figure and made her the star of the night.

She may well be the best dressed royal to ever grace the Royal Palace of Madrid.

Founded in 2009 by private organisations, the Prince of Girona Foundation seeks to foster entrepreneurship and to help young Spaniards in areas which could be relevant for their future, including sciences, sports and business.

Born in Oviedo in 1972, the elegant Letizia became queen of Spain after King Juan Carlos abdicated the throne after 40 years in favour of his son Felipe VI, Letizia’s husband, whom she married in Madrid in 2004.

Queen Letizia had been married before. In 1998, she married Alonso Guerrero Perez after a 10-year courtship. The couple divorced in 1999.

Spain’s new royal couple have two daughters: Leonor (born in 2005), Princess of Asturias, and the Infanta Sofia (born in 2007).

For her husband’s enthronement, Queen Letizia wore a white dress and a matching coat with a stylish embellishment.
