One dead and one injured in A Coruña

A WOMAN of 78 has been found dead and her son seriously injured in their home in A Coruña, Galicia.

Guardia Civil have found a woman dead in her house and her son very badly injured after a knife attack by unknown perpetrators.

Samuel Juarez, government delegate for Galicia, has announced that the son alerted the Guardia Civil as to the incident via e-mail - the contents of which have not yet been released.

When the authorities arrived they had to call the fire brigade to get them into the house as the son was too badly injured to go to the front door. When they got into the house they found the woman on the floor in a pool of blood and her son, lying next to her, in very bad condition.

Sources within the Guardia Civil have commented that they are working on the hypothesis that it was an ‘apparent suicide’ in which the two mutually helped each other to kill themselves but that it had gone wrong.

The son is in hospital and it is not yet known if he will survive.

Police continue to investigate to clarify the circumstances of the death.
