ISIS has released a gruesome video which apparently shows the beheading and horrific murder of freelance journalist 31-year-old Steven Sotloff.
The killing, which remains unverified by security agencies, follows weeks after journalist James Foley’s murder and echoes the exact same methodology.
The suspected executioner, believed to be the same who executed James Foley, could be seen in the video and photographic stills released by ISIS wearing the same clothing, dressed in complete black, his face cowardly covered, wearing sand coloured desert boots and gripping a combat knife in his left hand.
The executioner is heard to say with a British accent “Obama, I am back”.
Steven Sotloff, dressed in an orange jumpsuit similar to those worn by detainees in the Guantanamo Bay high security detention centre, is then heard to say: “You know who I am by now and you know why I am here.”
The executioner is then seen to pass the knife across Steven Sotloff throat before the video fades out. The video continues with the severed head being placed on the blood stained body.
A further person is seen in the background of the video with suggestion that this person may be a possible third suspect.
The video ends with the executioner saying: “Obama, back off and just leave us alone”.
