Chris Rock, Prince to appear on 'SNL'

  • The reclusive rock star tours infrequently

  • His new albums are chart toppers

  • Rock last appeared on the show 18 years ago

(CNN) -- Talk about an epic night!

Prince will be the musical guest on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on November 1, a show that will be hosted by another entertainment giant, Chris Rock.

Prince's presence is a big deal. The reclusive rock star tours infrequently. And even when he does, he plays small clubs.

So, for many of us, the SNL appearance may be one of the few times we'll get to see him perform songs from his two new albums, both of them chart-toppers.

"Art Official Age" went no. 1 on the Billboard's R&B chart; "PlectrumElectrum," recorded with his new band 3RDEYEGIRL, entered the Rock chart at no. 1.

Rock's presence is also a big deal. His last appearance on the show was 18 years ago.
