The Experimental Station of Algarrobo, which became the Mediterranean Subtropical Fruit and Vegetable Institute after the agreement with the University of Malaga, has gone from 119 employees in 2011 to only 100 in 2014, a drop of 19% in only three years as indicated by Miguel Angel Heredia, PSOE delegate.
According to the Centre for Higher Scientific Studies (CHSS) this is not what was agreed with the government which promised there would be no cutbacks.
Heredia commented that the 24 CHSS centres in Andalucia had gone from 2,212 employees to only 1.905 although the cuts in the Mayora were the most severe.
Margarita del Cid, PP national delegate for Malaga, replied that this was due to “temporary and extraordinary” debts accrued in an irresponsible way by the previous government.
