Estepona court in the dock

Security and conditions at a court have been slammed after a worker was mugged while waiting for a lift.

Estepona court’s deanship has denounced the situation in which they are working as “deplorable” and qualified as “essential and necessary” that they have a dignified place in which to work.

Among the many conditions that the deanship is denouncing is the fact that they are forced to keep court evidence in the box room of the building where their offices are; this box room has no security.

Add to this the fact that their offices have water leaks, damp from the bad state of the plumbing in the building, insect infestations depending on the time of year and bad smells.

They also denounce that “the rented space in which the offices are located is not secure and cannot be seen in its entirety by the video surveillance cameras therefore making it unsafe for the workers”.

And “all of these circumstances have contributed to the unsafe working environment and that one of the workers should be mugged in the same building where she works is unacceptable”.

They are still waiting for a response from the authorities as to what will be done about the situation.
