AVE breakdowns, PSOE demands answers

HENRICK CAMPOS, deputy of PSPV-PSOE, has demanded the appearance of the deputies of the ministry of public works and the presidents of RENFE and ADIF, faced with the new breakdown that the AVE Alicante-Madrid had, that affected more than 200 passengers and caused the train to be stopped for nearly three hours, one of them without air-conditioning.

According to the PSPV-PSOE this breakdown is not the first, and in summer alone, five more breakdowns occurred, along with the sinking of the track near Almansa.

The goverment recognises after a parlament answer that the AVE Alicante-Madrid-Alicante has the worst percentage of schedule delays of all of the routes.

For Campos “The route is not looked after, there is evidence of carelessness, and is poorly managed by the government of the PP.”

The socialists urgently appealed for the appearence of the Ministry of Public Works and the president of ADIF to explain the reasons for the sinking of the train track, and the loss of circulation of trains on the high velocity line, suffered after various downpours of rain.

Campos, was “sorry that in the year that the line had been functioning, the high velocity line had not been tested for problems of settlement or evacuation of water that may have arisen.”

In this sense he affirmed that he “hopes it has nothing to do with the collateral effect the cutbacks could have created.”

These failures, said Campos “can affect our confidence of these methods of transport, for the tourists and for residents, also having an effect on our competitiveness with other destinations, with popular lines like the Malaga or Barcelona route.
