(CNN) -- Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has undergone prostate surgery, Iranian news media reported Monday.
The surgery at a Tehran hospital was successful, but previously undisclosed until it was completed, the Mehr news agency reported.
It was not clear what his condition was before his surgery.
Prior to the operation, the supreme leader told the Fars news agency that "there is no reason to worry."
"This, of course, does not mean that I don't need people's prayers, but, God willing, there is no point to worry as it is a normal operation," he told fars.
