NATIONAL POLICE in Marbella have arrested two men, aged 49 and 23, charged with kidnap, extortion and wounding.
The police have said that the two suspects held their victim prisoner in his own home by tying together his hands and feet. They then proceeded to attack him with a hot iron, resulting in burns to his back and shoulders.
It is reported that the aggressors were attempting to extort €30,000 from their victim.
Investigators have now discovered that the victim was previously placed under arrest for acting as an intermediary in a drug deal, where a consignment of cocaine worth €30,000 was stolen.
It remains to be proven as to whether or not the two events are connected.
