UNICEF Spain declared Vicar a Child Friendly City.
A child friendly city is defined as a local system of governance, whether urban or rural or large or small that is committed to fulfilling children’s rights. In Child Friendly Cities, children and young people get to influence decisions about their community, express their opinions, live in a clean and unpolluted environment and participate in family, cultural and community life.
“For Vicar it is an honour to have been awarded such an important Unicef distinction. It is a reward for the efforts made by our municipality to improve policies regarding children and young people,” said Mayor Antonio Bonilla.
The official ceremony, organised by Unicef, the Health, Social Services and Equality Ministry and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, is scheduled to take place on November 7 in Guadalajara.
