Huercal Overa sports centre expansion

HUERCAL OVERA sports centre has had new rooms inaugurated this week to accommodate additional activities.

Indoor areas have been refurbished and the gym has been relocated and kitted out with new equipment. There are also new rooms for extra activities such as handball and indoor cycling. Mayor of Huercal Overa, Domingo Fernandez, together with Sports Councillor, Alonso Mena, joined other representatives of the town council to inaugurate the new changes.

Fernandez said: “The government team was clear that we had to update the centre, for our people, to offer residents the many opportunities within: swimming, supervised classes, gym, spa, etc. So we have listened to what was said and placed our bets on a great team of staff at the centre. We have taken advantage of unused spaces to provide improved and more appropriate facilities.”

The sports centre already has 1,600 registered users, including swimming lessons for 350 children. Among the new additions are children’s Zumba and Yoga. Next year will see the construction of a new indoor track next to the pavilion.
