PROPERTY owners in Velez Blanco have been granted a discount of 25 per cent by the council for their IBI, making it one of the lowest in the province.
Mayor of the town, Antonio Cabrera, extolled the virtues of the discount for the town’s residents and said that it was something they had been asked for frequently.
He explained that it would mean a significant decrease to the town’s income but added: “We, the government team, see the need to support our citizens with any project, thus helping the welfare of our residents right now during these economically complicated times.” As an example, those who paid €636 previously will now have to pay €535.
